DRUG-RELATED DEATHS IN ENGLAND, NORTHERN IRELAND, THE CHANNEL ISLANDS AND THE ISLE OF MAN: JANUARY-DECEMBER 2013
This surveillance report presents information on drug-related deaths that occurred during 2013 and for which Coronial inquests and similar formal investigations have been completed and information submitted. Its main purpose is to provide an analytical summary of data received, and, through consistent surveillance, to detect and identify emerging patterns and issues in respect of drugrelated deaths. The National Programme on Substance Abuse Deaths (NPSAD) could not achieve its goals and objectives without the invaluable voluntary collaboration and co-operation of Coroners and their staff across England, Northern Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, and the Isle of Man. We thank them all for their active participation and support. As in previous years, the statistics in this report are intended to inform authorities at local, regional and national levels, as well as health and other professionals about the serious consequences of drug abuse, especially polydrug use.
